It was announced in the Straits Times yesterday that the Active Mobility Advisory Panel has made a recommendation to make it compulsory for e-scooter users to register their devices.
Not surprisingly, we started receiving calls from our mobility scooter customers asking if they will need to register their scooters.
The answer is: NO, you do not need to register mobility scooters.
Contained in the same article was a paragraph at the bottom (see red box in the above picture, which says that:
"The panel added that motorised wheelchairs and mobility scooters used by the elderly and disabled should be exempted from registering."
So fear not, this new regulation will NOT have any impact on motorised wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
We will constantly keep up-to-date with the latest regulatory changes, interpret them, and explain how they will impact our customers. So please follow our Facebook page to keep yourself notified of the latest changes.
