In a very sudden and unexpected move, Dr Lam Pin Min, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Transport, announced in Parliament that with effect from 5th Nov 2019, e-scooters will be banned from footpaths altogether.
For our elderly and handicapped customers who worry whether this ban will affect their mobility scooters, not to worry! As shown above in latest diagram released by LTA, Personal Mobility Aids (PMA) such as electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters are not affected.
Also, to quote Dr Lam, “this ban from footpaths will not apply to those with mobility challenges who ride personal mobility aids like motorised wheelchairs and mobility scooters”.
So for seniors on mobility scooters, please carry on as usual!
